Some very tiny things

Apparently I haven't posted on here in 3 months! I have been focusing a lot on my illustration work over here and applying for jobs since I am now at home and haven't had much time for photography...

Graduating is strange, being at home is strange, especially the notion that I could do almost anything, but I have no idea what to do. I am just trying to keep myself busy and keep on making stuff until I can figure things out!

Yesterday I went cycling, the sun came out and there were some rather beautiful flowers about along with lots of tiny flies and creatures. I ended up coated in tiny black thunder bugs which was not a pleasant experience but it was nice to get out the house and do some exercise for the first time in ages.

Tiny things and gorgeous purple flowers

Some very ethereal skies

I find it funny how close I live to the motorway, normally cycle over one or two bridges when I go cycling!

Which is mad cos' it's all amongst these beautiful buildings and fields!

My bike resting for a while!

Photographs of pretty things

I have entered a couple of tigerprints design competitions with my illustration work but this months is a little different. They are asking for "photographic blanks" so images for photo cards which can be used for many occasions.

I have been trawling through my archives of old photographs to find the most commercial images I can find of flowers and colourful happy things as I from following the results of past competitions I know they go for super commercial stuff. Still, I thought I would share the images I came up with as they are all pretty nice to look at...

Dog Walking Photography

I have been at home the past week and a half for easter which means I am not doing much apart from uni work and sitting around eating chocolate. For that reason I often take the dogs out, sometimes offering, sometimes more begrudgingly when it is snowing and cold-like today. (oh hey summer, fancy appearing soon?)

When the weather has been nice this week I have taken my camera and had a play around with different settings including the white balance which meant I ended up with some fairly beautiful purple skies and clouds which I rather like :)

I hope the sun comes out more so I can take more shots like this, its a nice break from editing images!

Day 1-normal colour settings and Toby looking extra hairy

Day 2- Lots of purple sky

Christmas in the lakes

So this is way overdue since I didn't have my laptop over christmas and I haven't had a chance to edit my photos.

I went to the Lake District with my family for a week over christmas.
I loved having this whole week to play around with my new camera, here is what we got up to!

Lots of walking in the hills.

We found some logs which people had shoved coins into, anyone know why this is? some kind of lucky charm?

We searched out waterfalls

And Robins

We had a blue and white christmas tree

I made christmas biscuits with sparkles

Mum knitted me and my sister awesome hats!

We resurrected the family tradition of indoor fireworks, making some holes in the tablecloth!

And we also went out on my sisters inflatable kayak and made up songs about floating on a lake!

What did everyone else do for christmas? Get any exciting presents?
