Anthropomorphism

Sooo need to collect some reference for one of my drawing projects combining humans with animals. Have been instructed to look at artists who have captured character well. I decided to turn it into a blog post because I am ill in bed and it seems like the most effortless way of collecting imagery :)
Taken from 50watts

Illustrations from 1927 book "Animal Village" by Takeo Takei

"Hintergrund" drawings by George Grosz for a 1928 german performance of "The Good Soldier Svejk"

"Les Peries De Pluie" 1975 childrens book illustrated by Lucienne Fontannaz

Questionable imagery from Sigmund Freuds niece Martha, under the pseudonym Tom Seidmann Freud, illustrations from "The Book of Rabbit Stories"  1927

Kumadori prints by Konobu Hasegawa 1867-1879, these prints show Kabuki make-up, exaggerated makeup worn by Japanese actors, especially those playing dramatic roles.

Ruth Tzarvati "The Biography of a Hamster" 1964

Its all in the hands!

"D'r Luschdig Zipiti und Sini Schbezel" by Paul Hosch and Hans Melching, 1915

scribbler

Spent alll of last night playing around on scribbler. I suggest everyone has a go, its quite addictive after a while even if some of the drawings look a bit ridiculous!
Cant justify putting these on my illustration page as they are just a bit of fun! Half are by me half by simon :)

packing mess

I hate packing, room at home is a lot smaller than uni as well so there isn't much room to move around whilst gathering stuff! Pretty sure it is all on my bed now, just need to get it in the suitcase.
Also pages from my book of mess from recent times, I feel like a disappointment as I have had the book for a year and it is not even halfway full! New years resolutions:
-do at least 3 pages a week of mess
-swear less
(this is so I am ready to go to America in the summer and teach kids without getting myself into too much trouble, already did that many times at cheer competitions in front of 5 year olds...)

new years preview

Have spent alll day making my costume for new years. It is jungle theme so I will be working the bar dressed as a monkey!
Here is one part of it, massively inspired by merrimaking. Was going to attach the hood to the top but it all got a bit too complicated and then i found the lovely ribbon and decided to just make the hood separate!
My head is so warm right now!
